Dear Parents/Guardians of Incoming Kindergarteners,

Kindergarten screening will occur September 1st and September 2nd.

Special Education laws require that all children be screened upon entrance into kindergarten. The purpose is to identify any learning issues that may exist which may require further evaluation and/or special education services. The screening addresses the following developmental areas: social interaction, visual-motor/adaptive skills, language and cognition, and gross motor/body awareness.  The screening measures how your child learns, not how much he/she has learned. Our school nurse will administer vision and hearing screenings during the first month of school.

Please sign up for a time slot for your child’s screening on our SignUpGenius page:

https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0F4CA9A628A0FCC52-kindergarten1

The screening itself may last approximately 30 minutes depending upon your child. If you are unable to make your appointment, please contact Jayme McAssey at (781) 596-8837 or email jmcassey@swampscott.k12.ma.us. Arrangements will then be made to screen your child during the school day in early fall.

An email notification will be sent to the parent/guardian of each child on the afternoon of Thursday, September 9th with the name of your child’s kindergarten teacher. The first full day of school for kindergarten students will be Friday, September 10th.  School arrival begins at 8:10am and dismissal is at 2:15pm.

We will be hosting a Kindergarten Welcome Coffee for kindergarten parents and guardians from 8:15 until 8:45 after drop off. Please remember that masks may be required for all entering the building.

Stanley Elementary School welcomes you to Kindergarten and looks forward to meeting with you this fall!Link to school calendar

Sincerely,

Kathleen Huntley, Principal
