Stanley School PTO Committees and Events

We encourage parents to get involved in any and all ways that best suit your schedule and life. To join a committee, please reach out to the Committee Chair directly. Separate sign-up emails will be circulated for event-day volunteer opportunities.

Events

Antique Car Show Bake Sale Coordinator 

Chair: Reece Dahlberg

Represents Stanley School at the town Antique Car Show in October. Coordinates volunteers for baking of goods and sells them the day of.

Book Fair

Chair: Alyssa Fafel, Sarah Hashikawa

In November, a book “store” will be set up in the Library for parents and children to purchase books for personal & classroom use. In conjunction Back to Schol Day. 2 day event.

Fitness Walk

Chair: Wendy Fasciano

Work with Ms. Pacitto, our Physical Education teacher, to organize the event and gather volunteers to help the day of the walk. Takes place on the ball field during school hours.

Field Day

Chair: Monica Nason, Brendan Reen, Kevin Reen

A day the kids love!! Games, fitness challenges and fun take place on the field during school hours.

Holiday Fair 

Chair: Alyssa Fafel

Our biggest fundraiser happens in December. Select, organize and manage craft tables, oversee the purchase of small gift items from the holiday “store”.

Holiday Raffle Baskets 

Chair: Kiki O’Donnell

Arrange for each class room parent to put together a raffle basket. A huge fundraiser.

 

Talent Show

Chair: Alyssa Fafel

Organize and manage the school wide talent show, including an after school rehearsal prior to performance night.

Trunk or Treat 

Chair: Mellisa Caplan, Becky White

Responsible for organizing all the trunks and planning the event

 Programs

After School Programs

Chair: Candice Kerr

Manage and organize the registration and execution of after school programs at Stanley. Art, music, language arts, sports, yoga, science and nature, have been a great success and are taught by both parents and teachers.

Beautification/Grounds

Chair: Rebecca Metaxatos

Roll up your sleeves and help indoors and out. Fall spruce up, plantings, playground upkeep, spring spruce up, indoor decorative painting, etc. Projects determined by need and requests of administration and teachers.

Big Blue Bargains 

Chair: Sarah Hashikawa

Big Blue Bargain is a local thrift shop located at the Swampscott Middle School, staffed by volunteers from the five public schools. The chair organizes the schedule for Stanley’s designated time slots and liaises between BBB and the PTO.

Box Top Fundraising

Chair: Katie Tat

Creates incentive challenges for the kids to collect as many “box tops” as they can to raise money for the school. Coordinates the collection process at the end of the school year

Continental Math League

Chair: OPEN

Coordinate the math league materials, like worksheets and pencils. Recruit coaches. Work with Mr. Daniels on testing dates. CMT now offered as an After School Program.

Cultural Arts

Chair: Becky White

An integral part of the Stanley School community. Responsible for researching, choosing and implementing enrichment programs to benefit students in all grades. Programs bring music, art, authors & poets, science, health and fitness programs into the classrooms. You can volunteer for one specific event or for the committee as a whole.

Family Non-Fiction Shared Reading

Chair: Andrea Braham, Sarah Hashikawa

Coordinate with Becky Groothius, found of Family Non-Fiction Reading program, with book recommendations and activity supplements. Package, distribute, collect, and maintain book bags.

Grant Writing 

Chair: OPEN

Work with school principal to seek out and apply for grants for specific projects, programs and/or equipment.

Hospitality Committee 

Chair: Monica Nason, Kiki O’Donnell

Organizes two teacher luncheons- one in September to welcome the teachers back to school, and one in May for Teacher Appreciation Week

Library

Chair: Vivian Sparacio, Tracy Spear

This committee manages the, cataloguing, organizing and preserving books, maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the library as well as managing the staff of parent volunteers.

Science Steward 

Chair: OPEN

Coordinate with the district-wide STEM teacher and help distribute supplies to the classrooms. Help with science-related Cultural Arts programming the day of.

Stanley School Directory 

Chair: Meg O’Neill

Responsible for compiling contact information and advertisement sales, printing, and distributing the Stanley School Directory.

Staple Kitz 

Chair: Katie Joy

Act as the liaison between Staples, Stanley School Secretary, and PTO. Coordinate grade supply list with secretary, distribute and collect order forms, calculate and submit order, arrange shipping and classroom distribution.

T-shirt Committee

Chair: Reece Dahlberg

Organize sales of school apparel during the year. All proceeds support PTO programs and events.

Walk to School 

Chair: Lisa Carrigan

Work with Mr. Daniels on Stanley School Safety issues and the “Safe Routes” program. Organizes Walk/Bike to School Days. Orgers free getaways and provides coffee/treats if desired.

Welcoming Committee

Chair: Jenne Ford

Responsible for providing refreshments at the beginning of the school year for the Kingergarten Popsicle Party and the Welcome Back Coffee. Also provides a welcome ift for students new to Stanley. Additionally, orders and sells Stanley apparel to K students and others in the beginning of the school year.
